The main NCDs prevalent in India are cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, together contributing most significantly to NCD-related morbidity and deaths.

Specifically, cardiovascular diseases, including conditions such as coronary heart disease, stroke and hypertension, account for approximately 45% of all NCD deaths in India. Chronic respiratory diseases contribute about 22% of NCD-related deaths. Cancers and diabetes are also significant contributors, each responsible for around 12% and 3% of NCD-related deaths, respectively. Other notable NCDs prevalent in India include dementia, hypertension, obesity, and overweight.

It is now globally accepted that Exercise as a medicine offers cost-effective interventions. People now want to take greater care of themselves.

Our course will enable the fitness professionals, physical education teachers, S&C coaches and all those who care about the patients with NCDs to deliver physical activity in the right dosage for preventing and / or managing the diseases.

EM Triad:

EM will introduce the attendees to the triad that comprises EXERCISE as non-pharmaceutical MEDICINE:

  • Conduct and analyse fitness assessments including ECG, Electronic Strength Test, etc.
  • Prescribe Exercise in right dosage
  • Deliver correct Exercise instruction – not just “train” clients but prevent onset of imminent injuries

If one or two of above is / are absent or inaccurate, “training” Special Populations may be incomplete at best or risky at the worst.

Hosted by GĀYO Fitness Sports Academy, it will be the first such program in the UAE!

The presenter, Dr Lee CP is the CEO of The Asia College of Exercise Medicine (ACEM), Kuala Lumpur. He is widely regarded as the pioneer of using Exercise as the first line of intervention against NCDs. See FACULTY below.
