  • Description
IRA-course

“Ira” – or, “eeraa” – means water in Sanskrit.

Water fitness is any physical exercise in the water that increases the heart rate and the body’s intake of oxygen long enough to benefit the condition of the human body. Simple activities such as walking, running, dancing, and swimming are defined as doing aerobic exercises. Using the resistance offered by the water, we can exercise muscles the way we do with dumbbells and other weights in the weight training room.

Ira allows a person to exercise every muscle and every joint in the body all at the same time. Water exercises are cooler as the water cools off the body during exercise. This is definitely a plus point, especially in the summertime heat, or if you live in a part of the country that is hotter than other areas.

Perhaps, the most important benefit of Ira is that almost anyone, no matter their age, can perform water exercises. The reason for this is because the water causes your body to be buoyant, thus causing less strain and stress on your joints and muscles.

This workshop – Module 2.06 – is part of the Mumbai University Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT). This workshop fee is included in total CCPFT fee.

This short specialist course is approved by International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) – USA for 7 CEUs.

Ira is also a popular stand-alone course. You can attend it without enrolling to CCPFT – provided the trainee is a good swimmer. Safety demands that the Ira student trains only clients those clients who swim well and is supported by trained and certified lifeguards.
