The Advanced Strength Training Level 1 short course is conducted by Gāyo.

It is not uncommon to see fitness professionals including personal trainers with a very limited knowledge of weight training. Their knowledge is limited to 25-30 exercises, quite often restricted to some of the exercises done for bodybuilding.

In actual fact, Weight Training has hundreds of exercises most which can be performed by men, women and, under certain contra-indications, even children above the age of six! There are 16 types of Fitness Goals and Weight Training is the exercise common to all these 16.

There is a whole of lot Exercise Science involved and, this science needs to be applied with “art”. AST1 is designed to enable the student practice and teach Weight Training smartly – according to the individual’s fitness goals. It will give a glimpse of the various training systems and philosophies too.

Fitness professionals must master Weight Training. It is the foundation of fitness training. Weight Training is the first – and the most popular – of the eight general categories of training modalities.
