Certificate Course for Integrated Pilates Teachers

Gāyo’s Certificate Course for Integrated Pilates Teachers (CCIPT) is India’s first formally structured Pilates Teacher Training program. In 2009, Gāyo introduced Pilates Institute of America’s (PIA) Pilates Teacher training programs.

Ms Frances Owens, co-founder of PIA’s co-founder, who now runs Pilates Training Camps in USA trained and certified our Master Trainers. She has worked with Lolita San Miguel, the only living Pilates Teacher to be trained by the legendary Joseph Pilates himself.

The CCIPT comprises several stand-alone courses:

1) Certificate Course for Pilates on Mat Teachers (PilMat) is the foundation upon which our CCIPT is based.

2) Pilates on Ball (PilBall)

3) Pilates on Reformer (PilRef)

4) Pilates on Cadillac (PilCad)

5) Pilates on other Apparatus (PilApp)

  • Barrels (Ladder Barrel, Small barrel, Spine Corrector)
  • Wunda Chair
  • Magic Circle
  • Ped-a-pull

All the above courses when completed lead to the certificated title of Master Trainer in Integrated Pilates.

Our students by the end of the Apparatus course will also a have a solid understanding of how to work with –

  • Toe corrector
  • Foot corrector
  • Breathaliser
  • Sandbag
  • Towels

The health benefits of Pilates include:

  • balanced muscular strength on both sides of your body
  • enhanced muscular control of your back and limbs
  • improved stabilization of your spine
  • improved posture
  • rehabilitation or prevention of injuries related to muscle imbalances
  • improved physical coordination and balance
  • relaxation of your shoulders, neck and upper back
  • safe rehabilitation of joint and spinal injuries
  • prevention of musculoskeletal injuries
  • increased lung capacity and circulation through deep breathing
  • improved concentration
  • increased body awareness
  • stress management and relaxation.
  • Versatility

Why Pilates?

If there is one exercise format most suited to the average Indian’s personality, it is Pilates! In recent years, there has been increasing demand for professional knowledge in the distinctive exercise format of Pilates.

In the Indian context, Pilates is the most appropriate form of exercise for the following reasons:

  • In current COVID-19 conditions that are likely to continue for some years, Pilates offers opportunities to develop aerobic endurance,
  • Is most well suited to the Indian psyche and fitness aspirations – fat loss, muscle tone, local muscular endurance and flexibility,
  • It does not require weight training,
  • It requires minimum space and equipment,
  • It is suitable for exercisers in all age groups – from age 6 upwards,
  • Pilates can be used as part of personal training, strength and conditioning, exercise therapy. It is useful for athletes, general fitness enthusiasts as also children and senior citizens
  • Offers vocational opportunities in an area of Physical Education and Fitness in which market demand is growing rapidly, mainly due to its therapeutic and health applications

In 2009, with the help of Ms Owens, Gayo brought “equipment-neutral” Pilates to India. Since then we have trained many Pilates teachers across India.

Our Pilates on Mat, Ball and Reformer courses are now jointly certified with the BPCA’s College of Physical Education.

We shortly expect formal approval from the University of Mumbai (just as we have similar approvals for our personal trainer and fitness center management courses).

Since 2017, the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPS) has accredited our PilMat for Level 4 certifications.

Currently, EREPS have granted us Level 4 Pilates Trainer status to our PilMat on the basis of its –

– comprehensive knowledge delivery,

– strict and credible assessment system, and

– stringent internal quality assurance protocols.

We are in the process of obtaining EREPS’ accreditation for Pilates on Apparatus which includes, Ball, Reformer and other equipment.

By virtue of EREPS accreditation, our PilMat is internationally accepted with the other courses soon to follow.
