Conducted by GĀYO FITNESS ACADEMY, this short, specialist course – Module 2.02 – is part of the Mumbai University Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT).
FST techniques can be applied in daily physical activity and exercise, sport and medical rehab, across all age groups. They can be applied in-person in the gym or outdoors and via online training too.
This short course focuses on “function” or purpose in daily life. It targets movement patterns that have relevance to and in daily life.
Daily life purposes can be related to getting better in physical activities like walking, squatting to pick up something heavy or getting in and out of a chair or doing household chores. Life is akin to sport. So, preparing to compete in a sport, like kabaddi or football or tennis of any other sport for that matter will include functional training.
A functional workout is simply one that strengthens you in a particular way that is applicable to an activity outside the weight training room.
In fact, “gymming” is often considered to be unreal or artificial. You stand or walk on a stable surface. You hold equal resistance in both hands and most exercises tend to be done within limited range of motion. In real life or sport, this is not so!
This specialist course is part (Module 2.02) of the University of Mumbai Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT) syllabus.
FST is also a module in the following vocation courses:
