Conducted by GĀYO FITNESS ACADEMY, this specialist course in Plyometrics for Agility & Power (PLY) is Module 2.04 of the Mumbai University Certificate Course for Personal Fitness Trainers (CCPFT).

Plyometrics is a type of exercise training that uses speed and force of different movements to build muscle power. It can include different types of exercises, like push-ups, throwing, running, jumping, and kicking. Athletes often use plyometrics as part of their training, but almost anyone can do these workouts. People who are in physical rehab after an accident or injury use plyometrics to get back into good shape and physical function.

Plyometric exercises are powerful aerobic exercises used to increase your speed, endurance, and strength. … Also known as jump training, plyometric exercises are usually geared toward highly trained athletes or people in peak physical condition.

PLY is also a module in the following vocation courses:

  • Certificate Course in Strength & Sports Conditioning (CCSSC), conducted jointly with BPCA’s College of Physical Education, Mumbai
  • Certificate Course in Bodybuilding Coaching (CCBBC)

PLY is currently approved by International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) – USA for 07 CEUs.

It is also a popular stand-alone course. It can also be attended without enrolling to the above listed vocation courses.

Student Eligibility

Student –

  1. Must have passed 10 years of School Education
  2. Must be physically and medically fit
  3. Must have passion for fitness / sport
  4. Physically Challenged persons can apply if they have exposure to fitness / sport
  5. BEFORE FINAL EXAMINATION, must attend and be certified in First Aid & CPR with AED
  6. Course delivery is bilingual, however students ought to have working knowledge of English

Knowledge Delivery

Currently PLY is BEING OFFERED AS BLENDED COURSE – that is, it comprises:

  1. Online WEBINARS (face-to-face) supported with training videos
  2. GUIDED home study / practice
  3. Home ASSIGNMENTS
  4. IN-PERSON (face-to-face) education & training

Fee

If you are enrolling to only PLY course, fee is ₹3,250 including –

  • Gayo certificate,
  • book and
  • nearly 80 exercise videos.

Note: PLY fee is included in the CCPFT, CCSSC and CCBBC fees. These students do not pay additionally for PLY.

Examination

Course End Assessment

  • Theory: 25 MCQs that will cover the Science of Strength Training: Maximum marks: 50
  • Practical Teaching: Maximum marks: 50

Student has to teach one exercise each any five of the following joints –

  • Sub-maximal drills
  • Frappier drills
  • Lunging and backward running
  • Carioca
  • Jumps
  • Bounding
  • Box drills
  • Depth jumps

Total number of Learning hours

Course duration: Total 50 hours

  • Online face-to-face: 02 hours
  • Home Study & Practice: 40 hours
  • In-person Training: 08 hours
